Bathroom Sink Faucet Removal: A Step-by-Step Guide

Replacing a bathroom sink faucet may seem like a daunting task, but it's actually quite simple with the right tools and know-how. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you remove your old faucet and install a new one.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools

Before you start, make sure you have the following tools:

  • Adjustable wrench or basin wrench
  • Channel lock pliers
  • Screwdriver
  • Bucket or bowl
  • Rag or towel
  • New faucet

Step 2: Turn Off the Water Supply

Locate the shut-off valves under the sink and turn them clockwise to close them. If there are no shut-off valves, you'll need to turn off the main water supply to your home.

Step 3: Disconnect the Water Lines

Use the adjustable wrench or basin wrench to loosen the nuts connecting the water lines to the faucet. Carefully disconnect the lines and allow any remaining water to drain into the bucket or bowl. Use a rag or towel to absorb any spills.

Step 4: Remove the Mounting Nuts

Locate the mounting nuts that hold the faucet in place below the sink. Use the screwdriver or channel lock pliers to loosen the nuts and remove them. Be careful not to drop the nuts into the drain.

Step 5: Lift Out the Old Faucet

Once the mounting nuts are removed, you should be able to lift the old faucet out of the sink. Be gentle and avoid damaging the sink or countertop.

Step 6: Install the New Faucet

Position the new faucet in place and insert the mounting studs into the holes in the sink. Place the mounting nuts over the studs and tighten them securely using the screwdriver or channel lock pliers.

Step 7: Reconnect the Water Lines

Attach the water lines to the new faucet using the nuts that came with the faucet. Tighten the nuts securely using the adjustable wrench or basin wrench.

Step 8: Turn On the Water Supply

Turn the shut-off valves or main water supply back on and check for any leaks. If there are leaks, tighten the connections until they stop.

Step 9: Enjoy Your New Faucet

Congratulations, you've successfully replaced your bathroom sink faucet! Now you can enjoy the convenience and style of your new fixture.
