How to Put in a New Bathroom Sink Faucet

Adjustable wrench

Step-by-Step Instructions

Turn off the water supply. There should be two shut-off valves under the sink, one for hot water and one for cold water. Turn both valves clockwise to turn off the water supply.
Disconnect the old faucet. Place a bucket under the sink to catch any water that may leak out. Using the adjustable wrench, loosen the nuts that hold the faucet in place. Once the nuts are loose, you can pull the faucet up and off the sink.
Clean the sink surface. Use a rag to clean the surface of the sink where the new faucet will be installed. Remove any old caulk or sealant.
Apply plumber's putty. Roll a small piece of plumber's putty into a snake and place it around the base of the new faucet. The putty will help to seal the faucet to the sink and prevent leaks.
Install the new faucet. Place the new faucet on the sink and tighten the nuts by hand. Use the adjustable wrench to tighten the nuts further, but do not overtighten them.
