How To Change A Bathroom Fan Switch

Changing a bathroom fan switch is a relatively simple task that can be completed in a few minutes with the right tools and materials. However, it is important to take the necessary safety precautions and to follow the instructions carefully to avoid any electrical hazards.

The first step is to turn off the power to the bathroom fan at the circuit breaker panel. Once the power is off, you can remove the faceplate of the switch by unscrewing the screws that hold it in place. Next, you will need to disconnect the wires from the old switch. There will be two wires, one black and one white. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws that hold the wires in place and then pull the wires off of the switch. Be careful not to touch the bare wires with your hands.

Now you can connect the wires to the new switch. The black wire should be connected to the brass screw on the switch and the white wire should be connected to the silver screw. Tighten the screws until the wires are secure. Once the wires are connected, you can push the switch back into the electrical box and screw the faceplate back into place. Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker panel and test the switch to make sure it is working properly.

Conclusion

Changing a bathroom fan switch is a simple task that can be completed in a few minutes. By following these instructions, you can safely and easily replace the switch and keep your bathroom fan working properly.
