How to Install Bathroom Faucet Lift Rod

Installing a bathroom faucet lift rod is an easy way to improve the functionality of your faucet. A lift rod is a metal rod that connects the faucet handle to the cartridge, which controls the flow of water. When you turn the handle, the lift rod moves the cartridge up and down, which opens and closes the water flow. Here are the steps on how to install a bathroom faucet lift rod:

Tools and materials:

  • Bathroom faucet lift rod
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Flashlight (optional)

Step 1: Turn off the water supply.

The first step is to turn off the water supply to your faucet. This is usually done by turning off the valves located under the sink. Once the water is turned off, open the faucet to release any remaining water in the lines.

Step 2: Remove the old lift rod.

Locate the old lift rod, which is typically a thin metal rod that connects the faucet handle to the cartridge. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the nut that secures the lift rod to the cartridge. Once the nut is loose, remove the lift rod from the faucet.

Step 3: Install the new lift rod.

Take the new lift rod and insert it into the hole in the cartridge. Make sure that the lift rod is inserted all the way so that it is fully engaged with the cartridge. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten the nut that secures the lift rod to the cartridge. Do not overtighten the nut.

Step 4: Reinstall the faucet handle.

Once the lift rod is installed, reinstall the faucet handle. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the screws that secure the handle to the faucet. Do not overtighten the screws.

Step 5: Turn on the water supply.

Turn on the water supply to your faucet. Open the faucet and check for leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the nuts or screws that secure the lift rod or faucet handle until the leaks stop.

Installing a bathroom faucet lift rod is a simple and easy way to improve the functionality of your faucet. By following these steps, you can install a new lift rod in just a few minutes.
