How to Install a Bathroom Vanity Against a Wall

Installing a bathroom vanity against a wall is a job that most do-it-yourselfers can handle. It's a great way to update the look of your bathroom without having to replace the entire vanity. By following these steps, you can ensure that your vanity is installed correctly and looks great for years to come.

Tools and Materials You'll Need:

  • New bathroom vanity
  • Level
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Drill
  • Screws
  • Caulk gun
  • Caulk
  • Cordless screwdriver

Instructions:

1. Prepare the wall for installation.

If there is an existing vanity, remove it. Clean the wall where the new vanity will be installed. Make sure the wall is level and smooth. If the wall is not level, you can use shims to level it.

2. Mark the location of the vanity.

Measure the width of the vanity and mark the center point on the wall. Use a level to draw a horizontal line across the wall at the center point. This line will indicate the top of the vanity.

3. Install the vanity cabinet.

Place the vanity cabinet against the wall, aligning the top of the cabinet with the horizontal line you drew. Use a level to make sure the cabinet is level. Drill pilot holes through the back of the cabinet into the wall. Insert screws to secure the cabinet to the wall.

4. Install the vanity top.

Place the vanity top on the cabinet. Make sure the top is centered and aligned with the back of the cabinet. Use a caulk gun to apply a bead of caulk around the perimeter of the vanity top. Press the vanity top down onto the cabinet to secure it.

5. Install the sink.

Place the sink in the opening in the vanity top. Apply a bead of caulk around the perimeter of the sink. Press the sink down into the opening to secure it. Connect the water supply lines to the sink. Tighten the nuts on the water supply lines to secure them.

6. Install the faucet.

Place the faucet on the sink. Apply a bead of caulk around the base of the faucet. Tighten the nuts on the faucet to secure it.

7. Install the hardware.

Install the cabinet knobs or pulls. Apply a bead of caulk around the base of the hardware. Tighten the screws to secure the hardware.

8. Finish the installation.

Clean up the area around the vanity. Enjoy your new bathroom vanity!

Tips:

  • If you are installing a vanity with a backsplash, make sure to install the backsplash before installing the vanity top.
  • If you are installing a vanity with a mirror, make sure to install the mirror before installing the faucet.
  • If you are installing a vanity with a built-in light, make sure to connect the light before installing the vanity top.
  • If you are not confident in your ability to install a bathroom vanity, you can always hire a professional to do it for you.
