How to Create a Bathroom Vanity from an Old Dresser

Are you looking for a unique and stylish way to upgrade your bathroom without breaking the bank? Repurposing an old dresser into a bathroom vanity is a great option. It's a cost-effective and sustainable way to add character and storage to your bathroom.

Materials you will need:

* Old dresser * Sink * Faucet * Mirror * Tools (wrench, screwdriver, drill) * Optional: Paint or stain, countertop

Step 1: Prepare the Dresser

* Remove the drawers and any hardware from the dresser. * Sand any rough edges or imperfections. * If desired, paint or stain the dresser to match your bathroom décor.

Step 2: Cut the Holes for the Sink and Faucet

* Measure and mark the location for the sink and faucet holes. * Use a drill to cut the holes for the sink and faucet. * Make sure the holes are the correct size for your sink and faucet.

Step 3: Install the Sink

* Apply a bead of silicone caulk around the rim of the sink. * Place the sink into the hole and press down firmly. * Secure the sink with screws or bolts through the mounting holes.

Step 4: Install the Faucet

* Apply a bead of plumber's putty around the base of the faucet. * Insert the faucet into the hole and tighten the mounting nuts. * Connect the water supply lines to the faucet.

Step 5: Add a Countertop (Optional)

* If desired, add a countertop to the dresser for extra storage or style. * Measure and cut the countertop to fit the top of the dresser. * Secure the countertop with screws or bolts.

Step 6: Install the Mirror

* Hang the mirror above the sink using appropriate hardware. * Make sure the mirror is securely mounted and level.

Step 7: Finishing Touches

* Replace the drawers. * Add knobs or handles to the drawers. * Decorate the vanity with candles, plants, or other accessories.

Tips:

* Choose a dresser that is the right size and style for your bathroom. * Make sure the sink and faucet are compatible with your dresser. * Use a waterproofing sealant to protect the dresser from moisture. * Add under-sink storage baskets or shelves for extra organization.
