How to Replace a Hansgrohe Bathroom Faucet Cartridge

Replacing a Hansgrohe bathroom faucet cartridge is a relatively simple task that can be completed in under an hour. The most common reason to replace a cartridge is because it is leaking. A leaking cartridge can waste water and can cause damage to your bathroom. If you notice a leak coming from your Hansgrohe faucet, it is important to replace the cartridge as soon as possible.

Tools and Materials You Will Need

Before you begin, gather the following tools and materials: * Adjustable wrench * Phillips head screwdriver * Flathead screwdriver * New Hansgrohe faucet cartridge * Towel

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Turn off the water supply to the faucet. There should be two shut-off valves under the sink. Turn both valves clockwise to turn off the water.

2. Remove the handle from the faucet. The handle is usually held in place by a screw. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screw.

3. Remove the faucet cover plate. The faucet cover plate is usually held in place by two screws. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the screws.

4. Unscrew the cartridge retaining nut. The cartridge retaining nut is located at the base of the faucet. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the nut.

5. Remove the old cartridge and insert the new cartridge. Grip the old cartridge and pull it straight up to remove it. Insert the new cartridge into the faucet body and press down until it is fully seated.

6. Tighten the cartridge retaining nut. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten the cartridge retaining nut. Be careful not to overtighten the nut.

7. Reinstall the faucet cover plate. Align the faucet cover plate with the faucet body and insert the screws. Use a flathead screwdriver to tighten the screws.

8. Reinstall the handle. Align the handle with the faucet body and insert the screw. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the screw.

9. Turn on the water supply to the faucet. Check for leaks around the cartridge. If there are no leaks, the repair is complete.

Tips

* If you are not comfortable replacing the cartridge yourself, you can call a plumber for assistance. * Hansgrohe offers a limited lifetime warranty on their faucets. If your cartridge fails within the warranty period, you may be able to get a free replacement. * When replacing the cartridge, be sure to use a new O-ring. The O-ring is a small rubber gasket that helps to seal the cartridge and prevent leaks.
