How to Tighten Moen Bathroom Faucet Handles

Moen bathroom faucets are known for their durability and style. However, even the best faucets can develop problems over time. One common issue is loose faucet handles. Loose handles can be a nuisance and can lead to leaks. Fortunately, tightening Moen faucet handles is a relatively simple task that can be completed with a few basic tools.

There are two types of Moen bathroom faucet handles: single-handle and double-handle. Single-handle faucets have one handle that controls both the water flow and temperature. Double-handle faucets have two handles, one for hot water and one for cold water.

The steps for tightening Moen faucet handles are slightly different for single-handle and double-handle faucets. Here are the steps for each type of faucet:

Tightening Single-Handle Moen Faucet Handles

  1. Turn off the water supply to the faucet. There are usually two shut-off valves under the sink, one for hot water and one for cold water. Turn both valves clockwise to turn off the water.
  2. Remove the handle. Most Moen single-handle faucets have a plastic cap that covers the handle screw. Pry off the cap with a screwdriver or your fingernail. Once the cap is removed, you will see a screw. Remove the screw with a screwdriver.
  3. Tighten the handle. Once the screw is removed, you will be able to tighten the handle. Hold the handle in place and turn it clockwise until it is snug. Do not overtighten the handle.
  4. Reinstall the handle screw. Once the handle is tight, replace the handle screw. Turn the screw clockwise until it is snug. Do not overtighten the screw.
  5. Replace the handle cap. Once the handle screw is tight, replace the handle cap. Press the cap into place until it snaps into place.
  6. Turn on the water supply and check for leaks. Open the shut-off valves under the sink to turn on the water supply. Check for leaks around the handle.

Tightening Double-Handle Moen Faucet Handles

  1. Turn off the water supply to the faucet. There are usually two shut-off valves under the sink, one for hot water and one for cold water. Turn both valves clockwise to turn off the water.
  2. Remove the handle. Most Moen double-handle faucets have a plastic cap that covers the handle screw.
Check for leaks around the handles.

Tightening Moen bathroom faucet handles is a simple task that can be completed in just a few minutes. By following these steps, you can keep your Moen faucet working properly for years to come.
