How To Remove An Old Delta Bathroom Faucet

When you need to replace an old bathroom faucet, it is important to follow the correct steps to avoid damaging the plumbing. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to remove an old Delta bathroom faucet:

1. Turn off the water supply.
Locate the shut-off valves under the sink and turn them clockwise to close them. If there are no shut-off valves, you will need to turn off the main water supply to your home.

2. Open the faucet to release any remaining water.
This will help to prevent water from leaking when you remove the faucet.

3. Remove the aerator.
The aerator is the small, mesh screen that is located at the end of the faucet. Use a wrench to unscrew the aerator.

4. Loosen the packing nut.
The packing nut is located at the base of the faucet where it connects to the water supply lines. Use a wrench to loosen the packing nut, but do not remove it completely.

5. Disconnect the water supply lines.
Use a wrench to disconnect the hot and cold water supply lines from the faucet. Be careful not to damage the water supply lines.

6. Remove the old faucet.
Once the water supply lines are disconnected, you can remove the old faucet. Grip the faucet with your hands and pull it straight up to remove it from the sink.

7. Clean the sink and faucet base.
Use a damp cloth to clean the sink and faucet base. Remove any old caulk or debris.

8. Install the new faucet.
Follow the instructions that came with the new faucet to install it. Make sure to tighten all of the connections securely.

9. Turn on the water supply.
Turn on the shut-off valves under the sink to turn on the water supply. Check for leaks and tighten any connections that are leaking.
