How To Remove An Old Moen Bathroom Faucet

Removing an old Moen bathroom faucet is a relatively simple task that can be completed in a few minutes with the right tools. By following these essential steps, you can easily remove your old faucet and install a new one.

1. Gather Your Tools

Before you begin, you will need to gather the following tools:

  • Adjustable wrench
  • Hex key
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Slotted screwdriver
  • Bucket or bowl
  • Rags

2. Turn Off the Water Supply

Once you have gathered your tools, you will need to turn off the water supply to your faucet. This is typically done by turning the handles beneath your sink counterclockwise. If you cannot locate the handles, you may need to turn off the main water supply to your home.

3. Disconnect the Water Lines

Once the water supply is turned off, you will need to disconnect the water lines from the faucet. To do this, use the adjustable wrench to loosen the nuts that connect the water lines to the faucet. Be careful not to overtighten the nuts, as this can damage the water lines.

4. Remove the Faucet Handle

Once the water lines are disconnected, you will need to remove the faucet handle. To do this, use the hex key to loosen the screw that is located on the side of the handle. Once the screw is loose, you will be able to pull the handle off of the faucet.

5. Remove the Faucet Cartridge

Once the faucet handle is removed, you will need to remove the faucet cartridge. To do this, use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws that are located on the top of the faucet. Once the screws are removed, you will be able to pull the cartridge out of the faucet.

6. Remove the Faucet Base

Once the faucet cartridge is removed, you will need to remove the faucet base. To do this, use the slotted screwdriver to remove the screws that are located on the bottom of the faucet. Once the screws are removed, you will be able to pull the faucet base off of the sink.

7. Install the New Faucet

Once the old faucet is removed, you can install the new faucet. To do this, simply follow the steps in reverse order. First, install the faucet base, then the faucet cartridge, and finally the faucet handle. Once the new faucet is installed, turn on the water supply and check for leaks.
